The Solution
To deliver on the tight deadline, I took charge of the project, leading animation, particle effects, and compositing, and brought in my trusted collaborator Andy McMillan to focus on modelling, texturing, and lighting. Working in parallel allowed us to move quickly without sacrificing quality.
The Challenge
Emotive 3D were commissioned to produce a launch video announcing CoreWeave as a new sponsor for Aston Martin’s Formula 1 team.
With only 8 days to deliver, the timeline was extremely tight. Their in-house team were already at capacity, so they needed someone who could lead the project from start to finish and turn the project around smoothly.
The Process
Andy began with a rough scene built from simple shapes. While he added detail day by day, I blocked out and refined the animation in parallel. He passed me updated scenes daily, which allowed me to fine tune the motion as his assets evolved.
We worked iteratively with wireframe previews, followed by a handful of low-resolution renders for feedback. This process of parallel development and constant updates was the key to meeting the deadline without losing clarity or polish.
The Results
The project was delivered on time and on brief, resulting in a dynamic launch film that Aston Martin and CoreWeave were proud to share.
Achieving this within an ambitious 8-day turnaround was made possible by bringing on board another highly skilled artist and keeping a solid process at the heart of the production.
